Investigating Workers Compensation

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

People seem to love working in Australia. Many skilled workers from around the world travel to Australia looking for work, which is indicative of the fact that working here is special. One such benefit is the fact that you get Workers Compensation insurance policies.

Workers compensation insurance covers your wages and claims if you get injured at work. The insurance will provide money to cover your wages, medical expenses, and offers permanent disability cover. Beyond this standard cover, you will also receive compensation in the case of accidental death.

Getting sick, being injured or suffering from poor health is never a good thing. The problem is that those close to you suffer as much as you do. Pressure can build if you are the sole income earner in your family.

Nobody likes being injured. Suddenly you are restricted, and cannot live the kind of life that you choose. As a responsible adult, working and providing for your loved ones is a satisfying part of your life.

To maintain your position in the family, you have workers compensation. Basically, your employer has to cover the costs of injuries received at work. You shouldn’t suffer alone in pain and in agonizing over the fact that you may not get to work again, not provide for your family, and may need to file bankruptcy, which is not an easy thing to do for a career person.

You can sleep a little bit easier knowing that this kind of cover is available. Be warned that some companies will do their best to avoid paying, regardless of how much evidence you have. If this is the case you will need a compensation lawyer.

If you find yourself in this situation, a compensation lawyer is a must for getting through all of the legal requirements and steps. Compensation lawyers will tell you when to claim, and how much to ask for. Most employers will want to settle quietly to avoid bad publicity.

If the lawyers do their job, the benefits are actually worth the injury (unless it is life-threatening). Some people receive such big payouts that they can spend the rest of their days relaxing without a worry in the world. This led some people to fake injuries.

Insurers will not pay a cent if they find that you have faked an injury. This is a common plot in movies – and the bad guy always comes up short. It is a lot better to keep healthy and just work like a normal citizen.

Note that if you are drunk when you get injured you will not be eligible for compensation Some companies will fine you if you are drunk at work. Companies have a right to contest liability, so rather avoid malicious acts.

Compensation Lawyers will tell you when to claim, and how much to ask for.

San Diego Medical Insurance Quotes – Know When to Run From Rogue Websites

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Rogue health insurance websites are set up to capture personal information from people trying to get instant quotes, and then the websites sell that information to agents. In the results from 2 Google searches for “Pregnancy Health Insurance” and “Maternity Insurance Plans,” almost 50% of the top 20 results were rogue websites. There are plenty of legitimate health insurance websites to choose from, but you need to be able to distinguish the good from the bad. When you click the “Get Quote” button on rogue websites, you are essentially telling them, “Please have 5-10 medical insurance agents call me for the next 8 weeks to sell me a policy,” and “Please sell my email address to other list services and health insurance agents so I can receive their emails.” I’ll show you how to recognize these websites before they deceive you.

Ten years ago I left the corporate world to start a business of my own. I knew I need to get health insurance for my family so I searched online for Medical Insurance California. I clicked one of the top links and read some information of the website and saw that I could get instant San Diego health insurance quotes by filling out their quote request form, so I did. When I hit the “Submit” button to get the quotes, I was taken to a generic page that said I would be contacted by 5-8 agents that would provide my instant quotes. Twenty seconds later my phone started ringing, and for over 2 months I got daily phone calls from agents trying to sell me health insurance. The junk emails were actually worse because they never stopped and seemed to multiply as time went by. I eventually had to get a new email address (this was before spam filters).

As a result of that experience I learned the telltale signs of rogue websites and can now recognize them quickly. Here is the list of red flags to watch for:

1. Google insurance ads on the website – legitimate California health insurance brokers wouldn’t display competitive ads on their websites. 2. You see links for “Agents” or “Brokers” on the website – the website is going to sell your contact info to the agents that sign up to use the website’s services. Look through ALL the links, bottom, top, and sides of the webpage. 3. Check the privacy policy to determine if they are going to give your personal information to third parties – they have to tell you they will do this in order to be able to sell your information to agents or email services. 4. Look to see if the website displays an insurance license number (this is commonly at the bottom of the page) – if no license the website could be a rogue or a national company that won’t be as familiar with the details of the California health insurance market. 5. Scan for the following text, or something similar, “this website provides a free service and is not an insurer or agent/broker” – this is a marketing website that will sell your personal information or send you to a national broker for a referral fee.

If none of the above red flags show up, and you decide to begin filling out the quote request form to get a California Medical Insurance quote, you need to look out for 3 more red flags before submitting your information:

6. Check the Disclaimer at the bottom of the quote request page to see if the website is going to have agents call you. 7. The quote request form requires your home address – This is not necessary to provide a quote, but will result in you getting junk in your mail box. 8. The form asks for the best time to contact you – this definitely means that agents will be calling you.

If you find any of the above red flags you should close the page; your information won’t be saved as long as you don’t hit the final “Submit” button on the quote request form page.

Rogue San Diego health insurance websites are pretty common on the internet, and tend to show up in longer keyword searches. To avoid becoming a phone and email spam victim you need to be careful to ensure you are working with a legitimate San Diego Medical Insurance website. The signs to look for are Google Insurance Ads, Agent/Broker links, no insurance license, bad privacy policies, the disclaimer, or text that says the website is not an insurer or a broker. Following these precautions will help you keep your personal information safe.

Best Maternity Health Insurance Plans Analyzed: Which Cost Is The Deciding Factor

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

One of the common questions from couples planning to have a baby is, “What will our costs be if we use Maternity Health Insurance plan ‘XYZ’?” A new article at SPF Insurance, Analysis of Best California Maternity Health Insurance Plans, covers the detailed cost break down of the best maternity health insurance plans. One of the key parts of the analysis is showing the tradeoffs between paying more for the prenatal and delivery costs out of pocket and less for the maternity insurance premiums, versus paying less for the prenatal/delivery costs and more for the monthly premiums.

The pregnancy health insurance plans that were analyzed are the Kaiser 0/1500 HSA plan, the Kaiser 50 Copayment plan, the Anthem Blue Cross Select HMO plan, the Health Net HMO 40 plan, and the Blue Shield Spectrum 5000 plan. To determine what the couple’s Out Of Pocket Costs (OOP) are for the prenatal care and delivery, we add the copays for the office visits, the lab expenses, the copay for the Amniocentesis and Ultrasound tests, and the hospital delivery costs. Then we add up 12 months of insurance premiums, and add that to the OOP. This gives us the Total Out Of Pocket Cost (TOOP) that the couple should expect to pay during the pregnancy.

Here is a quick summary of the analysis cost data from the article:

Among these five pregnancy health insurance options, there are a couple of data points that stick out. The Blue Shield Spectrum plan has the lowest premium cost and the Blue Cross Select HMO plan has the lowest out of pocket cost. However, neither of these plans is the lowest total out of pocket cost leader, so having the lowest premiums or smallest out of pocket costs is not a guaranteed winner. If the primary cost goal is to keep the total out of pocket cost low, then both the pregnancy insurance premiums and the expected out of pocket costs have to be considered together in order to find the best plan.

I know some people will probably look at the TOOP costs listed above and then decide that pregnancy insurance isn’t really providing a benefit. As a result, they’ll choose a plan that minimizes their premium costs just in case it takes longer to get pregnant. Then they are very frustrated when they end paying a lot more out of pocket because their pregnancy health insurancehad a high deductible. It’s vital to keep emotions out of the decision process, and know that even though your pregnancy costs will be between $5,000 to $9,000, the actual total cost of all the prenatal and delivery costs is closer to $20,000, and you’re paying less than half of that and if something goes wrong you have an insurance company to pay for everything else.

For most people, quality of care is the most important part of the decision regarding which maternity health insurance plan to choose. Cost is still an issue, but as you can see, the way to decide which plan is the best choice is to “run the numbers” and see what the total out of pocket cost will be. Then you’ll know what costs to plan for during your maternity and delivery period.

With global financial trends taking a violent twist it is quite easy to fall into debt. Early retrenchment, outstanding bank loans and an increasing high cost of living has left millions around the world in heavy debt. However, there are ways of dealing with current finance issues like bad debt and I will show you how to.

The best way to fight debt is by increasing the amount of money you earn and reducing your expenditure. This way you are left with an excess every time you earn money. On the other hand heavy debts and low income do not go down well and can only bring about a situation of bad debt. When this kind of thing happens most people in these situations benefit from instant payday loans for such instances.

If you are curious about how to earn more money then you must definitely reflect on starting a business on the internet. Here you can sell products, advertise the products and services of affiliate websites and even write articles for other sites. Whatever you do just try to keep believing in yourself and eventually you will make a profit.

Being a skilled professional is yet another gateway to riches is when do your line of work for private clients. Unless you have not noticed your boss earns money because of your skills. So by sourcing a few private clients you should earn as much as you boss if you eventually take the extra step of investing in you own business.

Budgeting is overlooked by a lot of people but in actual fact it goes a long way in preserving your wealth. In sharp contrast to this you could be impulsive and buy anything your heart yearns for, but the truth is that you will actually be spending more money than you can.

On the other hand not budgeting for unexpected expenses can force you to borrow money, thereby increasing your debt. So make a list of all the fundamental items you need in your home and with the rest of the money you can consider re-investment like I mentioned earlier.

Whilst you might think there is no way of dealing with current finance issues there are a number of ways. The moment you start eliminating debts things will start changing, believe me.

If there are a number of reasons for you to need to take on a loanlook at your current financial situation. If you are going to consider instant payday loans only make sure that you borrow the amount you can afford to pay back.

Term Life Insurance vs Whole of Life Insurance

Friday, May 7th, 2010

When looking for life insurance, it’s important to find the best policy for your own unique needs. There are so many web sites offering online discount life insurance, so it’s a common mistake made by many, to end up with a policy that’s not suitable.

There are a variety of life insurance policies available, so it’s important to understand the differences.

Term Life Insurance:

With term life insurance you pay for a predefined term, and are covered for that term (normally the same term as your mortgage).

This means that term life insurance only offers protection for the duration of the mortgage, and is usually of little value once your mortgage is fully paid off.

Term insurance is generally cheap and is expected to fall over time providing you don’t suffer from a major disease. However, there are a number of different types of term life insurance policy:

* The first is known as level term cover, and it’s the most common type. With this form of policy the premium costs are locked in for as long as you hold the policy. In other words, you will pay the same amount throughout the entire term of the policy.Unfortunately, it means that as time goes by you could end up paying more for your life cover. However, the nice thing is that you get the benefit of paying at today’s rates. However, bear in mind that over time these rates could fall instead of rise.

* The second type of term life cover is known as escalating term insurance. This type of scheme means that you pay an increasing amount each year, so the payout at death also increases. They are generally low cost policies, and are more suited to first time buyers and the young. However, they can become more expensive as you get older.

* The third type of term cover is known as decreasing term insurance. With this type of policy the monthly/annual payments stay exactly the same. However, the amount of protection reduces each year.

* The forth type of term life insurance is what’s known as increasing term insurance. Here the lump sum payable at death increases each year. This increase in value of the policy is made up by increasing the premiums periodically over the years.

* Finally, convertible term insurance is a type of term life cover that can be converted into an investment/insurance policy in the future. Normally, the value of such investments will be based on your health, at the time you bought the term insurance policy.

Whole of Life Insurance:

Whole of life insurance covers you right up until the time of your death, providing that you keep paying your premiums. It can give a considerable lump sum to your family when you die, and it normally accumulates in value over the years.

Whole of life policies can be more expensive and more complicated than term life insurance. Also, the investment you make can earn some interest each year. Therefore, since your investment generally grows each year, your premiums can actually reduce over time. You may also reach a time where the interest gained covers all the future premiums, which means you may have no more premiums to pay.

However, it’s important to understand that it is possible the cash-in-value of a whole of life policy may actually be less than the amount put into the policy over it’s full term.

Summary:

The decision of whether to buy a term life policy, or whole of life cover comes down to your own unique needs, and circumstances, and what you wish to achieve.

The simplest form of life insurance is a level term policy with renewable option. This allows you to buy life cover for as long as you may require it.

On the other hand, a whole of life policy might suit you better if you need a policy that grows in value over the years.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both forms of insurance, so it’s always important to get advice from a competent insurance adviser.
