Horrible Medical Negligence Claims?
Medical schools have been carefully organized in order to offer students the best academic preparation for their future careers. Nevertheless, doctors still make mistakes, thus, jeopardizing their patients’ lives. Unlike other mistakes that people do, medical misdiagnoses are intolerable as the effects are most of the times disastrous. In these circumstances, it is important to file medical negligence claims as they represent the only means you can use to get compensated for your loss and to obtain enough money to pay for corrective treatments.
We often hear jokes about doctors who remove their patients’ healthy organs, but we don’t expect them to be true. Yet, doctor Francisco Ortiz is a living evidence that such unfortunate events may occur in real life, too. He damaged the genital organs of his male patient by washing them with a solution that contained too much acid. Recently, the Romanian doctor Naum Ciomu cut off his patient’s penis during a surgical intervention because of “a brief loss of consciousness”.
Female patients haven’t had much luck, either, as in 1970 an American doctor named James Burt was convinced that he could increase women’s sexual responsiveness by modifying their genital organs. The worst part was that he performed all these operations without the patients’ consent, so the majority of these women had to undergo further surgical interventions in order to become normal again.
The more complicated the medical interventions, the more chances there are to fall victim to medical malpractice. As a matter of fact, the majority of the medical negligence claims that are filed against doctors are related to mistakes that occur during surgical interventions. Such was the case of the poor patient who had to undergo repeated surgeries in order to get rid of the screwdriver that the previous doctor had inserted in his spine at the place of a steel rod.
It appears that physicians are not the only ones that make mistakes, but psychiatrists, too. Such was the case of an Oxford psychiatrist, who attributed a wrong diagnosis to a young student in order to subject him to a series of brainwashing techniques. The student was forced to read sexually related messages that worsened his state and eventually caused him to commit suicide.
These patients trusted their doctors and expected them to put an end to their physical or psychical grieves; instead, they ended up worse than they had been. Thanks to their lawyers, these victims were able to bring justice on their side, so it is important to hire well-trained solicitors if you are dealing with a complicate case of medical negligence.
Make sure you hire a well-trained solicitor if you want to win even the most difficult cases of medical negligence claims.
